You are in: Himu | How to organize and take part in an expedition
In our courses we focus on the most useful activities needed to be a successful mountaineer. Some of the things I do as a mountaineer are essential for all climbers. Some of them, however, are a reflection of my own life and lifestyle, as well as my approach to mountaineering. Let me explain you how I choose to be this way, and why I make certain decisions. In the course of the training, I will share the following important components with you:
  • How and why I choose my essential and lifestyle related activities
  • My training regimen at home
  • My diet
  • My method of choosing the equipment
  • How to fund an expedition - a crucial topic of great interest . Traveling outside of Europe is very expensive, but even an unexperienced mountain climber secure funding from outside sources.
Furthermore, you will learn about:
  • How to create an appropriate budget
  • How to decipher if the services and other things someone is offering you are really what you want and need.
  • Gathering places for mountaineers in Katmandu or Islamabad.
  • Secrets to overcoming unexpected events and scenarios, e.g. what to do if the forwarding agent loses your equipment; or what to do upon arrival in a foreign city if you suddenly discover that anarchy has broken out and the state government has imposed a curfew and that you can't even leave the hotel?; or how you will handle a growing tension dangerously mounting between two team members?
  • Mountaineering techniques- climbing an eight-thousander requires essential physical and mountaineering training, but the right state is crucial to success.
You will learn about all of these things and more. Two things are crucial. The first: Doing everything with confident passion is important. The second: Leaving home for an expedition is exciting, but returning home is just as exciting.
